LOW-CODE DEFINITION.

An Enterprise Low-Code Application Platform (LCAP) speeds up custom application development and deployment by reducing coding needs. It includes low-code capabilities, UI development, business logic, workflow, data services, testing, deployment, and management.

Optional features can include catalog support, custom API generation, advanced UI, process automation, event-driven architecture, AI-assisted development, team management, citizen developer support, multi-cloud compatibility, and enterprise-grade characteristics like performance, security, and support. LCAPs are used by enterprise developers, fusion teams, and offer advanced capabilities like complex process automation, event-driven architecture, and AI techniques.

GARTNER® MAGIC QUADRANT.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a research methodology by Gartner, Inc. It evaluates technology markets, comparing vendors based on vision and execution. The Quadrant has four quadrants: Leaders, Challengers, Visionaries, and Niche Players. Vendors are placed based on Gartner's assessment.

Leaders
Enterprise LCAP Leaders combine strong execution and visionary product strategies, serving diverse organizations worldwide with robust LCAP offerings. This year's Leaders include Mendix, OutSystems, Microsoft, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Appian, who re-entered the Leaders quadrant due to growth, customer success efforts, and global expansion.

Challengers
Challenger vendors excel in execution but lack the vision of Leaders, particularly in offering and market strategies. They demonstrate strong execution in their areas of focus and are growing their customer base. However, they haven't shown the vision needed to expand beyond their core customers to serve various buyers and needs. This year, HCL Software, Zoho, and Retool join Oracle in the Challengers quadrant, increasing solution diversity and challenging Leaders.

Visionaries
Enterprise LCAP Visionaries like Pegasystems, Globant (GeneXus), and Creatio have strong strategic vision, but may lag in execution. Smaller specialist vendors with compelling visions and specific use-case support should also be considered if execution history isn't a top concern.

Niche Players
Enterprise LCAP Niche Players are specialized vendors with a regional presence. While they may not excel in all aspects compared to other vendors, being recognized in this Magic Quadrant is an achievement. Niche Players like Huawei, Kintone, Newgen, and Unqork may excel in areas like business process automation, content services, or citizen development, making them suitable for specific application use cases.
